The Alliance for Native American Indian Rights is proud to announce its "7th Annual Honor the Ancestors Festival and PowWow" with special guests Arvel Bird, JJ Kent, Medicine River Singers, and Scott CrispPortland, TN May 16, 2004 -- The Alliance for Native American Indian Rights is proud to announce that in addition to their "7th Annual Honor the Ancestors Festival and PowWow" to be held at Bottom View Farm, located at 185 Wilkerson Lane, Portland, TN, running from Saturday through Sunday, May 22-23, 2004, Arvel Bird and JJ Kent, well known recording artists and entertainers with Singing Wolf Records in Nashville, Tennessee, will appear in a free concert Saturday night (with purchase of festival ticket). Both will be on hand during the day for autographs and to sign CDs. Arvel Bird and JJ Kent have just returned from two performances in Albuquerque, NM as featured performers at the Miss Indian World talent competition, and at the largest PowWow in the country, the Gathering of Nations. Scott Crisp, well known MC at the Portland PowWow, also took the stage with Arvel and JJ, playing the spoons to several fiddle tunes. The $5 admission fee to the Ancestors Festival grants admission to the concert. Arvel Bird, a Shivwit Paiute descendent from Arizona and Utah, has played with such entertainers as Glen Campbell, Louise Mandrell, Clay Walker, and Loretta Lynn.
